I'm currently in SoCal paying 1650 in rent for my own 1 bedroom apartment. You may not be able to stay right in downtown LA if you're placed there, but you can find something within 30 minutes. And cost of living depends on where you're at. Ya, you pay a little bit more in taxes, but you get a lot back if you're overtaxed. As far as money goes, only you can decide if it's worth it. So honestly, I'm happy paying a little extra money in taxes for that because after having worked in the Southeast for years and years, I know how bad it can be.
